The Under-12s prepared for the season with a friendly against the club's Under-14s and played extremely well and were only beaten by the size and pace of the opposition. They opened the scoring in the first half but then succumbed later with midfield proving a problem. It gave the team the chance to try out 16 boys.

With Downham pulling out of the league, Under-12s were left without a game and had a second friendly with the Under-14s. Despite the scoreline they played some excellent football with Chris Smedmor and Danile Ganley outstanding. There was very little to chose between the two sides. New signing Andrew Milne scored his first goal for the club in the last minute.

Hethersett opened their league programme with a fine battling victory against a very skilful Sculthorpe side. Sculthorpe took the lead after six minutes but Hethersett changed their game to playing long balls in the wet conditions and Thomas Stanley equalised and then Matthew Steward gave them the lead with an opportunist goal. After the break Hethersett continued to push forward and Andrew Milne scored a controversial goal when the goalkeeper ran into Matthew Steward in attempting to clear and dropped the ball. Robert Mitchell headed home following a good build-up between Matthew Steward and Chris Smedmor and then Sculthorpe attacked non stop as the Hethersett defence began to tire. Steward moved back into defence but Sculthorpe scored twice and only some desperate defending ensured Hethersett's victory.

Hethersett ruined all the effort put into last week's victory with a poor display in which they never fought for the ball or contributed anything to the game. The only highlight for the visitors was a good display in goal from Chris Bolderstone and a fine goal in the last minute from Matt Steward when he held off the challenge of three defenders to fire home after being put through by Daniel Ganley.

Hethersett struggled yet again against a side they should have beaten handsomely and it was only in the second half when James Curson came on that they began to play with any authority and to put their passes together. They took the lead early on with a hooked shot from Matthew Musson but allowed the opposition to equalise before half-time. After the break they went into a 3-1 lead before conceding a penalty and only making sure of the points in the last minute when Daniel Ganley scored direct from a corner.

Hethersett managed to score four times against the unbeaten league leaders who had previously conceded just five goals in four games. But it still wasn't enough as the defence caved in against the long ball tactics of the visitors. Hethersett had a golden opportunity in the first minute but Matt Steward missed with only the goalkeeper to beat and within a few minutes Massingham were 2-0 up. Steward made amends with a cool finish to make it 2-1 before Massingham went further ahead only for Robert Mitchell to score a sparkling solo goal. On the stroke of half-time Hethersett conceded yet another penalty and after the break the visitors made it 5-2 before Steven Beck turned in a Mitchell cross. Massingham scored twice more before Steward finished off a fine move to complete the scoring.

Hethersett's defensive frailties were again exposed as they conceded another five goals which never really gave them a chance. Dereham opened the scoring with a speculative punt from 30 years which dropped into the top corner and then went two up before Hethersett hit back with a fine solo goal from Matthew Steward. After the break Robert Mitchell touched home a Daniel Ganley corner and Hethersett had chances to take the lead before the defence gave in and Dereham scored three times and should have had more.

Hethersett made hard work of beating second from bottom Toftwood despite playing some good football up front. The defence once again had a nightmare and almost let Toftwood back into the game. Hethersett opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Matthew Steward scored from a corner. Toftwood equalised virtually from the re-start before Steward and Steven Beck made it 3-1 at half-time. Robert Mitchell made it 4-1 at the start of the second half before Hethersett went to sleep and conceded two sloppy goals. Four goals in the last five minutes saved their blushes as Mitchell completed a second half hat-trick and Matthew Musson and Chris Smedmor also scored.

Hethersett battled away superbly despite being knocked out of the cup at the first round stage against a very good side. Hethersett competed well and the defence held strong until midway through the first half. The home side equalised when Matthew Steward bravely headed home a Daniel Ganley corner. Dereham took the lead just before half-time. After the break Hethersett continued to battle away and only conceded a third goal near the end when they pushed players forward looking for an equaliser.

Hethersett took their time to produce the expected avalanche of goals but eventually set-up a new club record by becoming the first Athletic/Jubilee team to hit double figures. It took them 14 minutes to open the scoring with a spectacular overhead kick from Matthew Steward and they only had three goals at half-time. In the second half they played some good football and the goals flowed at regular intervals.

This was a nightmare game for Hethersett who lost key players through illness and had others less than fully fit. With a makeshift defence they struggled throughout and made basic errors with players running through them without any solid challenges. William Seppings and Steven Beck had fine games but too many players put in too little effort and the basic lack of ability again showed through. Hethersett's goal came on the stroke of half-time when Matthew Musson finished off a good build-up involving Matthew Steward and Robert Mitchell.

Hethersett were desperately unlucky not to gain at least a draw after a spirited second half fightback after going two goals down in the first half. Their goal came with a fine opportunist shot from Matthew Steward and two minutes from the end Robert Mitchell was denied an equaliser through an offside decision. Once again the defence showed much improved form.

Hethersett really struggled once again to beat a team they should have overwhelmed. They failed to compete for the ball, missed numerous chances and generally pulled out of every tackle. They played some neat football but the finishing touch was always lacking despite four goals. They opened the scoring after 15 minutes when Matthew Steward was put through and lobbed the keeper. There were then two incredible misses on the goalline before Elmham equalised. Going down the slope in the second half Hethersett completely dominated the game with Matthew Steward flicking home his second. Daniel Ganley scored after a fine solo run and Robert Mitchell bundled home a fourth.

Hethersett battled away against top of the table Dersingham and defended solidly for large portions of the game. They were restricted, however, to just a handful of chances. The first half was goalless with Hethersett soaking up heavy pressure and finiding it difficult to get out of their own half. Dersingham opened the scoring six minutes after the break and then added three more goals in a six minute period midway through the half.

Hethersett were well beaten by league favourites Dereham Town despite having plenty of possession. They were lacking in ideas up front and the defence was at times non existent as Dereham pushed forward and scored several times with long distance shots. Hethersett's inability to tackle is costing them dearly although this was about as good a performance as could be expected from a team that just doesn't have enough good players.

Hethersett showed their great inconsistency in a match they expected to win but they had to fight hard to claw out a draw. They started abysmally and paid the price for sloppy defending when Bircham took the lead. Matthew Musson equalised only for Bircham to restore their lead before half-time and then go 3-1 and 4-2 up in the second half with Hethersett's second goal coming from Daniel Ganley. In the last 10 minutes they hit top form and made it 4-3 with an own goal and then Andrew Milne deservedly equalised.

Hethersett put in their best performance for some time with a battling and skilful display in the first round of the Subsidiary Cup and they thoroughly deserved victory as they restricted the opposition to only a handful of chances. They also attacked in strength up front and James Curson totally dominated midfield. Two goals in each half saw them through to the semi-finals from a superb performance.

There is little that can be said about this match other than in attrocious conditions, Dereham played all the football and Hethersett's defence was back to its worst. They were only in the game in the first 10 minutes until Dereham scored and then fleetingly when they pulled the score back to 2-1. But from then on it was one-sided and just mistake after mistake.

Hethersett hung on in this friendly despite being 4-1 ahead at one point. They made numerous positional changes during the match to ensure that all 13 players had almost a full game. It was an undistinguished performance with only one of Matthew Musson's goals being of note following a fine flowing move.

This was another poor performance from Hethersett following their 11-0 victory over Wells earlier in the season. They struggled throughout to score. Matthew Steward opened the scoring midway through the first half and two goals from Andrew Milne gave them a comfortable half-time cusion. In the second half they struggled and their only goal came when Milne completed his hat-trick. Wells broke away to score a consolation goal in the last minute. Steward hit the post and the bar in the second half and, before the break, Chris Colwell fired a penalty straight at the goalkeeper after Steward had been brought down.

Hethersett reached the final of the Subsidiary Cup but made an extremely hard job of it, having to come back from being two goals down at half-time. Hethersett looked lack-lustre in the first half and were hit by goals after nine and 25 minutes. After tje break they turned the game around with Stephen Richardson playing well in midfield after coming on a s sub. Two goals in two minutes midway through the second half from Robert Mitchell and Matthew Musson levelled the scores and Matthew Musson hit the winner four minutes from time after good work from Richardson and Matthew Steward. The team began to play well once their believed in themselves and began fighting for every ball.

Hethersett made it four wins in a row with a good performance against Necton to reverse a heavy defeat early in the season. The whole team battled well and had many chances to make the win more emphatic. They scored some excellent goals and with 10 minutes remaining were 4-0 ahead. They conceded two late goals and looked fragile at the back in the closing stages as Necton hit back, but Hethersett managed to hold on for a well-earned victory.

Hethersett made it five wins in a row with another excellent performance against Dereham Wanderers. After several near misses they took the lead when James Curson converted a Robert Mitchell centre. Dereham equalised before half-time. After the break Matthew Steward nipped in to grab a hat-trick before Dereham acored a consolation towards the end. Chris Bolderstone pulled off some fine saved but Hethersett fully deserved the win.

Despite being well beaten, the scoreline flattered Massingham who scored five times in a five minute period before half-time and then twice at the end of the match against a weakened Hethersett team.

Hethersett were desperately unlucky to lose this cup final after taking a first minute lead and playing some very good football and having the majority of the play throughout the game. Lax defending ina five minute period in the first half saw Bircham score both their goals on a very big pitch.
Hethersett started well and opened the scoring after a minute with a fine goal from James Curson who fired into the roof of the net after setting himself up. Hethersett looked to be well on top until the 20th and 23rd minutes when Bircham scored.
After the break there was little to chose between the two sides and Hethersett had a golden chance to equalise when they were awarded a penalty for handball. Matthew Musson's spot kick was touched onto the bar and then saved by the goalkeeper and from that point on Hethersett looked beaten although they went close in a late flurry.
