Ladies Celebration Evening

Hethersett Ladies reflected on a successful season at a special celebration event at Wroxham FC.

Fielding a team containing many inexperienced young players, the club finished a highly creditable third in the Eastern Region Women’s Premier Division – their second highest finishing position ever.

Manager Chris Bolderstone spoke of the impressive way the players had moulded together as a team, despite a number of them being only 16 and 17 years of age. He said he felt the current crop of players were capable of eventually taking the club into the third national tier of the women’s game – the South East Combination.

In addition to their fine league season, the Ladies First team had reached their first ever Norfolk Cup Final where they narrowly lost 2-1 to Norwich City Ladies, who play a league above Hethersett.

The evening featured presentations to players from both the Ladies First team and the Ladies Hearts who play in the Norfolk League. There was a special mention for the outstanding contribution to the club’s ladies section of Kevin Swann, who is currently recovering following a serious illness.

Awards presented by club founder and secretary Mel perkins included the following.

Top scorer Hearts, Hannah Waters;  top scorer Firsts, Emma Mulley; Club players award; Charlie Swann and Jenna Cannell; Respect trophy, Lauren Bailey; Managers player for Hearts, Lizzie Street; Managers player Firsts, Vicki Lubbock; Players player Hearts, Megan Cletheroe; Players player firsts, Grace Birchall.

Players achieving appearance/goal trophies during the season were: 50 appearances - Mia Boorman, Megan Cletheroe, Kate Ellis, Lauren Matthews, Ellie Preece, Lizzie Street, Megan Todd, Vickie Swann. 100 appearances - Charile Swann. 100 goals - Emily Coates.
