A National FA Community Charter Club Youth teams Funday and Presentations 2011 Hethersett Athletic’s annual youth team funday
attracted hundreds of visitors and a very special presentation. A fete style atmosphere and gloriously sunny
weather saw one of the Athweltic’s showcase community events help to
mark the club’s 20th anniversary. Individual presentations
were made to the club’s youth sides which range in age from under-6 up
to 16. Barrie Slater, Chair and Treasurer of the Norfolk
Youth Combination, presented the Ernie Page Trophy to the club’s
Under-11s for being voted the most sporting team in the entire league: “To me this is our league’s most important
trophy. You have beaten 181 other teams to win this award and that is a
tremendous achievement,” Mr Slater told the youngsters. The club’s most prestigious internal trophy, the
Lee Thompson Memorial Shield for outstanding contribution, was presented
by Mr Slater to James Rice in
recognition of his selfless contribution which has seen him play for
both the adult Saturday and Sunday teams and also coach the Under-11s.
James is also one of the main organisers of the Come and Try Sports Day
which is being held on July 23rd as part of three days of
celebration organised by Hethersett’s Olympic Committee. As well as receiving trophies the teams took part
in mini sided games and there was a fete style feel to the event with
numerous attractions including tombolas, stalls, circus skills, a tai
kwon do demonstration and a speed kick competition. Photograph Gallery (click on pictures to enlarge them)
