* Hethersett Athletic Under 15s drew 1-1 with
Hellesdon. They were awarded a fifth minute penalty which was converted
by Jack Walker. Hellesdon created several chances before the break but
could not convert. Hethersett improved in the second half but had to
rely on keeper Matty Butcher to make a superb double save. Late in the
game a Hellesdon wide left free kick looped into the net to equalise. In
the dying seconds another Hellesdon deep cross was bundled into the goal
but was ruled out for handball. Butcher, Living, Gordon, Denny and
Walker were instrumental in earning Hethersett their first A league
point in a hard fought performance.
October 10th

beaten 7-3 at home by Thurton and Ashby. Paul Grimwood was on target
twice and the other Hethersett strike came from James Loughlin. Hethersett
Athletic Men’s Sunday went down 5-0 at Acle Reserves. Sunday Reserves
did better with a 1-1 draw at home to Salhouse Reserves with their goal

small pitch with Scott Grimes hitting four, including two excellent long
range drives. Hethersett’s other goal came from Ben Smith. Hethersett
Athletic Under-15s went down 5-3 at Taverham. Taverham took a 2-0 lead
before Tom Read pulled one back direct from a corner. Taverham scored

into it only for Taverham to add a fifth. Hethersett

They followed up a 4-2 victory over Brooke Adventurers with a 6-0 win
over Heartsease which saw Aaron Bradford hit a second half hat-trick.
Hethersett’s other scorers were Colby Watts, Paddy Kelly and Mark
Attfield.
October 17th Hethersett Athletic Ladies team has
taken just one point from its last two home games. A midweek 3-2 reversal at the hands
of Thorpe was followed by a 1-1 draw against Barking that leaves the
team in the bottom two of the Eastern Region Premier Division. All three
Hethersett goals in the two games came from Grace Birchall. The team will be hoping for a quick
reversal of fortune when they visit Chelmsford City this Sunday in the
second qualifying round of the Women’s FA Cup. Hethersett Ladies Hearts put the
memory of a heavy defeat against Acle the previous week behind them as
they beat UEA 8-4. Hethersett raced into a 5-0 lead before UEA pulled
themselves together. Lisa Ferdani scored five, Hannah Waters 2 and
Rhianne Brister one. Hethersett Athletic Men’s Saturday
found their form at the weekend to beat Methwold Rovers 5-2 in the Crown
Fire South and Central Norfolk League Division Two. Their goals came
from Mark Lance, James Loughlin, Paul Norman, Danny Gray and Nick
Simons. Hethersett Athletic Men’s Sunday
Firsts went out of the County Cup as they lost 3-0 to Sporting Farmhouse

and a Jack Walker penalty bringing the score back to 3-2. Hethersett had
chances to draw but just couldn’t find a third goal. Hethersett Athletic Under-14s
travelled to Norman and won 3-1 thanks to an Ashley Gray hat-trick –
his third in consecutive matches. Gray is the club’s leading
goalscorer this season with 11 in five games. Hethersett Athletic Under-13s beat
Norman 6-3 in the League Cup with Harry Denny scoring four. Other goals

over Holy Trinity. Paddy Kelly and Sam Harvey both scored twice and
other goals came from Colby Watts, Sam Johnson and an own goal. October 24th Hethersett Ladies coasted into the
third qualifying round of the Women’s FA Cup and also made a small
slice of footballing history. They became the first ladies team to
play on Chelmsford City’s ground and the setting proved to be to their
liking as they beat Chelmsford Ladies 7-0 with some sparkling football
that belied their lowly Eastern Region Premier Division position. Grace Birchall scored a hat-trick,
Emma Mulley hit two and Rosie Rutherford and Lauren Bailey were also on
target as Hethersett turned on the skill, speed and power to demolish
their Essex opponents. Victory in the third qualifying round
on November 13th would put them into the first round proper
of the premier national women’s cup competition. The draw for the next
round has still to be made. “We've made a little piece of
history and winning in the style we did has put Hethersett a little more
on the ladies football map. It’s also the furthest the club has ever
been in the FA Cup and now we are just one win away from the first round
proper,” said team manager/coach Chris Bolderstone. It was also a good day for the Hethersett Ladies Hearts team as they beat Aylsham 5-1 in the Norfolk League. Hannah Waters hit four to become only the sixth player in the club’s history to complete 150 league and cup goals. Hethersett’s other score came from Lisa Ferdani. * * * Hethersett Athletic’s three men’s
side found it tough going at the weekend. The Saturday team scored four in
their Crown Fire South and Central Norfolk Division Two game against
high-flying North Elmham but were still on the wrong side of a 5-4
scoreline. Hethersett’s goals came from James Rice, James Loughlin,
Nick Simons and Danny Gray. The Sunday Firsts went down 2-0 at
home to Hillside Old Boys and the Sunday Reserves lost 3-2 at School
House with both their goals coming from Paul Martin.

their second 11-0 win of the season as they comfortably saw off the
challenge of Taverham. Ollie Husband scored a hat-trick and Cameron
Whiting and Max Beckett both scored twice. Other Hethersett scorers were

down 3-0 at home to Mulbarton. Hethersett Athletic Under-9s beat
Surrey Chapel 2-1 with their goals coming from Sam Johnson and Colby
Watts. November 6th
HETHERSETT
ATHLETIC had only three victories in 12 matches over the weekend.
Pride of place went to the U15s who progressed to the third round of
the Norfolk Minor Cup with a 5-0 victory at Hellesdon, Ashley Gray
netting a hat-trick. His scoring feat was overtaken by Hannah
Waters who netted five in the Ladies Hearts' 7-0 win against Stalham.
Perhaps the most satisfying win was by the U12s who last season lost
every game. They notched up a 6-2 lead in the first leg of the South
Norfolk League Trophy, Jack Kirby on target twice.
Contrast
this with the U15s who were unbeaten last season but are finding it
tough in the "A" Division. With four key players missing
they were well beaten 13-0 by high-flying Old Catton, although coach
Michael Lemmon praised his players for keeping their heads up till the
end.
The
Ladies first team continue to languish near the foot of the table
after a 3-0 defeat at Basildon and there was little joy for the three
Men's sides. The Saturday team are rebuilding and lost 5-1 at Necton
while the two Sunday sides lost 5-2 and 2-1. There were other narrow
defeats for U16 girls (2-1) U13s (3-2) and U10s (1-0). The U11s came
off second best (4-0) in their local derby with Wymondham.
Ten
teams are in action this weekend with the main attention being at
Wroxham on Sunday where the Ladies take on Enfield Town in the third
qualifying round of the FA Cup. The visitors are well-placed in
the South-East Counties League so it will be a major achievement if
Athletic make it through to the First Round Proper. Action kicks off
at 1 p.m.
November 28th Hethersett Ladies moved out of the
Eastern Region Women’s League relegation zone with a solid 1-1 draw
at home to third placed Bedford. Hethersett have under-achieved in the

a thrilling 4-4 draw. Hethersett took an early lead through Tom Wyatt
and Jack Walker added two more as Spixworth also scored at regular
intervals to make the score 3-3 at the end of normal time. Spixworth
took the lead in extra-time but Billy Simmons took the game to
penalties with a spectacular lofted cross shot. Hethersett won the
penalty shoot out 4-1 with Jack Walker, Billy Simmons, Tom Read and
Ryan Stone all on target. Hethersett keeper Matt Butcher made some
fine saves throughout the match. Hethersett Athletic Under-14s went
down 3-0 at home to Norman. The Club’s Under-13s were also beaten
– 5-3 at Norwich United – with their goals coming from Daniel
Mehtab, Lewis Fox and Josh Lacey. Hethersett Athletic Under-12s went
down 5-4 in their League Trophy second leg at home to New Buckenham
but went through 10-7 on aggregate. Hethersett’s goals came from

Hethersett were without six key players due to injury and unavailability and poor defending allowed Wymondham to take the lead and by half-time Athletic were 3-0 down despite the half being fairly even. Bradley Tillett, Jasper Williams and Josh Lacey worked tirelessly but Wymondham made it 5-0 before Hethersett were awarded a late penalty for a foul on Lewis Fox. Daniel Mehtab scored from the spot for a consolation goal. Bradley Tillett was man of the match for another outstanding performance.
