Sunday 24th August 2003

 Hethersett A 1 Taverners Club 2

Desira Group, South Norfolk Sunday League. Division Two.

Hethersett played hosts to Taveners for their first home game of the season.

For the first 20 minutes the teams were evenly matched, with both attacking and creating chances. Taveners opened the scoring and soon made it two after being awarded a penalty. Unfortunately Hethersett were unable to make all their efforts count and at half-time they were two goals adrift.

Hethersett started the second half determined to make up the deficit. There was good work on the wing from James Millson and hard work in midfield from Rob Pugh. In defence, team captain Danny Holman and Mike Pugh worked hard to prevent the Taveners from increasing their lead.

Chances fell to Adrian Moore and Tim Allenden. In the last five minutes Hethersett were rewarded for the efforts when Chris Kerr scored his first for the season. This led to a desperate last few minutes for Hethersett as they chased the equaliser.

In the end Taveners held out  for a 2 - 1 victory . It was a good sporting game played by two competitive sides.
