Diss Greyhound 2  Hethersett Athletic A 2

Sunday 28th September 2003.
Hethersett were again on their travels for a league game against Diss Greyhound.

Both teams started strongly but Diss were pushing forward quickly. They created good chances from their long throw-ins and corners and took an early lead when a Hethersett player put through his own goal from a corner.

Both teams continued to battle in midfield and Hethersett pushed forward with chances falling to Paul Martin and Tim Allenden. Diss scored a second from a penetrating free kick to lead 2-0 at half time.

Hethersett were determined and showed good team spirit in the second half. Strong tackles were going in and as they pushed forward, Hethersett midfielder Chris Sutcliffe struck a fine left foot shot into the top corner of the Diss net. This  gave Hethersett the motivation they needed to chase the second goal, which came soon after, as Ade Moore scored his first goal for the season.
The last 10 minutes saw both teams battle it out for victory. Good defending by Mike Douglas and Danny Holman at the centre of the Hethersett defence kept Diss at bay. Andy Oliver came on to make his senior debut for the club and worked well on the right of midfield.

This was a good recovery from Hethersett to gain a point from a good competitive game.
